Sweet baby Raigan

When I walked out my front door for Raigan’s newborn photo shoot, the day had not started off right.  I was in the very beginning stages of my pregnancy so I was just feeling blech.  Nothing in particular wrong just feeling blech- all the moms out there, I know you can relate.  But the worst part was, we had found out at 6am that my husband’s grandfather had passed away.  Had it not been Raigan’s newborn session, I probably would’ve requested that we change it given the circumstances.  But he was already getting “old” by newborn standards and there’s such a small window to photograph these little guys that I just knew we had to do it, that day, no other options.  So I cowboy-ed up and I’m so glad I did.  Nothing helps take your mind off of things like capturing these new little ones, especially with my little secret and it being too early to share the news with anyone.  Holding that little guy brought back alot of memories that life just locks away until something comes along and has the key to open them.  And I knew I’d like Mom and Dad instantly.  Maria Elena, an apprehensive and sweet new mommy, and Dennis (who shares my husband’s name), a Boston native.  Anyone who knows me, knows that if you’re from back East, you get an automatic two thumbs up.

Thank you so much to the family, not only is your little man stunning but you unknowingly, got me through a very, very difficult day.  You did it just by letting me do what I love and holding your son.  Can’t wait to see you again for Raigan’s 6 month photo shoot!

Jonathan, George Washington HS, Class of 2012

I had so much fun shooting Jonathan’s senior portraits.  He attends George Washington High School, in Denver.  He wanted to do some shots around water, which, being in a landlocked state could be difficult- especially since we were shooting in Denver proper.  I came up with the idea of shooting around the Platte River, which has alot of interesting architecture that surrounds it, perfect for a young lad’s senior session.  When I arrived I was surprised to not only see Mom & Dad (usually it’s just Mom) but also his Grandfather and Grandmother! I welcomed the crowd- you can never have too many pairs of hands and eyes with you when you shoot and I promptly put Grandma and Grandpa on security detail.  And that meant I could actually put down my heavy bag full of equipment knowing I had 2 sets of eyes on it- score one for me!  Jonathan was a trooper and was up for anything on that warm September Sunday afternoon and I just love some of the textures we got in the shots from the local environment.  But my fave has to be the one with the whole entourage- I wasn’t going to let Grandma, sporting his fedora, go without snapping off a few first.  Isn’t she the cutest?

Congrats Jonathan, I wish you all the best with your future endeavors!

Paige & Family

I had the pleasure of photographing  Paige again this fall.  And while the primary focus of the photo shoot was about Paige and her 1st birthday, we still managed to get a few of the whole bunch together.  I just absolutely love the family shot!  And the first image below, I have but (no pun intended) one word: Rufflebutts!  Simply a must have if you have a baby girl, ’nuff said : )

Chautauqua Summer – Boulder, Colorado

Here are a handful of photos from a session I did this last summer at Chautauqua Park in Boulder, Colorado.  I think trying to coordinate the session was actually harder than trying to shoot, we had to schedule and re-schedule so many times…we finally got it done in the beginning of August.  The weather was fickle that day or, in other words, a typical Colorado summer afternoon but we decided to push ahead regardless what the weather gods threw at us.  Luckily, no rain or wind but some rather moody clouds that stuck with us, undeterred, right up until the end.  The clouds finally broke just before the sun was about to sink below the front range, and boy did we get some beautiful light and some great shots.  I think I shot more in those last 2 minutes than the whole session! If you’re gonna be in this business, you’ve got to roll with the punches, roll with them we certainly did- check out the last shot- love, love, love!
